If it's a calm song then with calm emotions. In the song “Fronting,” there's a part which said “Under the red light / what do you think about kissing?” That was an idea that came from passing by traffic lights and looking at couples who expressed affection with each other.ĭINO: All the members made effort to put in tones that matched the song's vibe. WONWOO: I often put imaginations felt in life into lyrics. While chatting with the members, I do a memo, I'm collecting ideas with sincerity step by step. Even while talking, I note down on a memo. WOOZI: Everything? I'm not a genius who is able to suddenly wake up and saying “ah!” in the midst of sleeping and immediately write (laughs). To give an example, when I see an object, I think about what kind of feeling it would be when connecting it with dance. I enjoy just imagining and thinking in my daily life. This time, I watched lots of modern dance. HOSHI: Instead of receiving special inspirations, I normally watch often. SEVENTEEN is famous for being a self-producing group which is made up of vocal team, hiphop team and performance team. Now because I have members who are like families, I'm not lonely but still feel bitter emotions when I think of my parents. At first when I was a trainee, it was tiring when I came to an unfamiliar Korea and was separated with my parents. JOSHUA: Peronally, I catch my feeling well when watching movies about families like Miracle in Cell No. But actually during the showcase, when we saw fans in front of us, we had feelings of tearing up so we did well on stage. Of course, it doesn't work well~ (laughs)? We're so bright to the extent that we were worried if we would be fine on stage. MINGYU: We have fun playing around among the members, to hold on to a serious side, we talk a lot. JEONGHAN: If you listen to B2ST sunbaenim's “On Rainy Days” alone, your emotions will fall into it. On days when I had time, I watched many sad movies. THE 8: Right, About Time, One Day, and If Only etc. To match our emotions, everyone talked and shared a lot. To fill this gap, what efforts did you make?ĭINO: I watched many movies about not wanting to cry, listened to many music. This time, different from “Adore U” to “Boom Boom” which had bright images, sadness was added. With a feeling of returning home with glory? THE 8: Since we went to LA this time, next time I want to do a concert with the members in China. It was the feeling of being closer to achieving my dream. It was fascinating to be together with the person whom I have only seen in videos since my trainee days. HOSHI: This time, performance team received dance lessons from a foreign choreographer. Just only being there gives a feeling of healing? (laughs) I wasn't able to understand what was that but now that I have went I understand. JEONGHAN: When Joshua first came to Korea, he told stories like if he returned to his hometown, his heart would just feel peaceful. It was a commendable moment for members now. I felt like I returned back to the starting point, I felt nostalgia. This time at our LA dorm, we recorded with a small speaker. S.COUPS: Before debut, I did producing in a small room with a small microphone. Were there any fun episodes during the filming? Heard that you guys filmed in America, in LA. We challenged the EDM genre, you can definitely feel that it's different from our 3rd mini album “Boom Boom.” SEUNGKWAN: We paid attention to the chords and lyrics so that there's a feeling of sadness amidst refreshing. The sound is on the bright side, although the lyrics are sad but because we want to overcome and win over the sadness, it goes in the direction of “I don't wanna cry!” The album is the growth to win over the identity of boyhood. WOOZI: Honestly, even though we said this concept was sadness, the overall music is not like that. Each of our members seem to have their own emotions to show. On stage, each member released his own individual way about portraying loss. rather than separation with a lover, the album is mainly about loss. Something like, “Ah, where we like that at that time too?” WONWOO: We want those in their late-twenties and thirties to recollect their youth. Especially Jeonghan who expressed a yearning expression pretty well~ If normally we are bright then while preparing this album, all of us were serious. A toned-down and serious feeling~ (laughs). We poured our sadness into the existing image we already had. When it's that feeling, wouldn't that be refreshing sadness? The members talked about this among ourselves. THE 8: Even positive people have no choice to feel sad sometimes, right. While developing, it talks about feeling sadness for the first time. VERNON: The boy from the first album “Adore U” is growing up gradually.
